Building a Summit Custom Home

Preston Ridge IV

This section is dedicated to walking you step-by-step through building your new dream home. Below are the major milestones of the construction process.

2

Site and Plan Preparation

When your contract is signed, the Summit team immediately gets to work on your home: working on plan preparations and site planning as part of the permitting process.

3

Pre-Construction Orientation

The pre-construction process is an important part of the construction process and your homeowner care specialist will go over the plans, site plan, and selection and timeline worksheet.

4

Excavation & Foundation

Approximately 30-45 days after contract execution, you will begin to see construction activity. Our foundation trade partner will excavate the basement, pour the concrete walls, apply a waterproofing barrier and backfill your new home.

5

Framing

Framing

Approximately 50-60 days from commencement of construction, we begin the framing process. Summit Custom Homes utilizes advanced framing techniques, roof trusses, proper window installation techniques, and Tyvek whole house wrap.

6

Mechanical Rough-In

At this stage, we will be installing rough-in for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical/low voltage. On build job projects, buyers will meet with the electrician and low voltage trade partners to conduct pre-electrical/pre-low voltage orientation meetings.

7

Insulation, Drywall, Trim and Painting

Insulation

The exterior and interior work continues! Upon completion of the insulation stage of the process, an independent 3rd party energy rater performs an energy audit. This milestone reaffirms our commitment to delivery of energy efficient homes.

8

Finishes

As we undertake the finishing stage of construction, your personalized selections will be installed, including paint, carpet, wood, tile, and countertop surfaces. We will continue to work on preparing your home for delivery and closing.

9

Pre-Closing Orientation

Approximately 2 weeks prior to closing, we will conduct a Pre-Closing Orientation. Builder Buyer Services Group, an independent 3rd party company, will perform the pre-closing orientation and review the key features of your new home.

10

Closing

Moving day!

Closing Day: It’s finally here! Congratulations, you are now a part of the Summit Custom Homes family. On behalf of the entire Summit team, we want to be the first to congratulate you on your new, quality-built and energy efficient home.
